Project: Step-by-step User Onboarding Summary: Our solution for the problem above is by creating gamified mission-based Onboarding. This effort utilizes an endowed effect and enforces learning and aims for the cognitive load balance and flexibility to increase adoption for MUM (Mapan's user). Role: UI Designer & DesignOps Platform: Mapan Timeline: Q1 2021 Status: Done Tags: Onboarding, Gamified Missions, Fintech, Cognitive Load Key Results & Business Metrics: - Onboarding Completion: +54% - First Transaction Velocity: 2.1x Faster - MUM Leader Activation: 71% Problem Statement: Previous text-heavy tutorial banners suffered a 70% skip rate, leaving new users confused during their critical first transaction cycle. Solution: A step-by-step interactive mission checklist with progressive milestone rewards, endowed progress visualizers, and context-sensitive interactive tooltips. Find the right and seamless way Mapan is in the growth stage of the product. In the current Mapan app we faced hygiene onboarding hurdles: hard-to-find Arisan info, unfamiliarity, and a severe UX blocker forcing users to input physical addresses prior to browsing. Approach & Gamified Mission Platform We proposed gamified mission-based onboarding utilizing the endowed progress effect and enforced learning to balance cognitive load and foster adoption. Output & Step-by-Step Flow Findings & Outcomes Usability testing confirmed MUM found missions clear and approachable. In mid-Q4 2021, acquisition grew 7x (from 0.4% to 3%) with significant completion velocity. Findings, Reflections & Key Learnings: This scale of this effort is bigger than expected: Even it's not ideal make sure cover the ideal workflow, don't just leave behind and thinking 'ah our time is limited it's what it is' attitude. Always give it a try, more experiments: I don't know the outcome but pretty confident base on UT that we're conducting, need more quantitative data in the future. Over-communicate sometimes necessary!: I should be more proactive and more communicative (more prepared for presentation) with every stakeholder rather than give the ball to the PM.

Always give it a try, more experiments

I don't know the outcome but pretty confident base on UT that we're conducting, need more quantitative data in the future.
